Thinking things thru'

I have seen newspapers, TV shows and even PM Lee's National Day Rally discussing about the ugly side of Singaporeans.

Some examples are - using tissue paper packets to 'chope' seats while they go on to queue and order their food; speaking loudly in the public; digging your nose just when you fee like it, and etc.

I would have considered these as NOT that bad after all, maybe these people are those who have received lesser education than the rest of us and thus, causing them to behave like this out in the public...

Now, consider this:
The other day, my cousin invited me to join her family to Hotel X to have Teochew Porridge Buffet Dinner. I nearly dropped my spectacles while I was there. This was what happened - When we arrived at the restaurant, there was already a long queue outside. But we had already made our reservation, so we were brought in to our table directly. We went to get our food and guess what? 50% of the food trays were empty and the rest of the food available were fishcake, salted vegetables, eggs... There were no fish, no chicken, no pork - as they advertised on the newspaper! And what's worse is the the next table who just went off wasted a lot, and I really mean A LOT of food! The leftovers on their plates were like mountains! So after a while when a staff pushed a tray of food (chicken/pork) out from the kitchen... Guess what happened?

Here's when all the fun begins...!!!

Everyone suddenly crowd around the food tray and started fighting for food!

GOSH!!!

And while they were fighting for food, only those in front will get it. The rest of them who actually queued for the food were left with nothing, but disappointment.

One food tray, two food trays, three food trays...

Everyone repeated the "fight-for-food" act. UGLY SINGAPOREANS!

I cannot believe it, can you?

Moreover, we are in a restaurant in a HOTEL...
How do we expect foreigners to respect us after seeing us carry out such acts?

Since when did our culture become so 'ah tiongs'!?!

As a Singaporean, I really need to find somewhere to hide my face......
