Understanding today's teenagers

Perhaps, this could act as a guide to parents/teachers who are reading this. Well, I am not saying that I am a professional in this kind of stuff, but, maybe just to share with everyone on how I see and how I actually feel about certain things related to teenagers.

Teenagers generally fall under the age group from about 13 years old to around 18 years old. Anything beyond 18, I would call them young adults. I think in the US, teenagers were being referred to those between 13-24 years old. But anyway, let's get back to topic...

Teenagers are not easy to understand. They are complicated. You never get to know what they are actually thinking in their mind, especially when our society is ever changing. Teenagers these days are really very short-tempered. It's not like in the past, in the 50's or 70's, where teenagers will still know that they should listen to their parents, as they know that they should respect them. And of course, not argue back with them when you still do not realise that you are in the wrong.

Parents out there, please do spend more time with your teenager(s)! Understand their character, understand their needs! And it is not that when your teenager wants something, you will just give him/her the money and ask he/she to get it. At the end of the day, you are just spoiling him/her. I do understand that in today's society, parents do not have a lot of time to spend with their children at home. This is due to their busy and tight workload and other commitments. But, that does not mean that giving some extra cash to your teenager(s) will help to close-up the bond between you guys.

Personally I do know of a few friends whose parents are really busy business people, and their parents just do not spend time with them. Instead, their parents will give them extra pocket money and ask them to go out with their friends and buy whatever they like. But I can tell you this, although my friends get to have some extra pocket money, they are not very happy about it. What they really need is that their parents could actually afford to spend some time with them, so that they could have some good moments together...

This I would say, is the lack of love from the parents. I believe that parents would not want this to happen, but to what extend do they know that teenagers were very vulnerable? They are very emotional too...

At this point in time, things will start to get a little out of hand, teenagers will start to get influenced easily, either by their friends around them or even by the environment. Which means to say, any small little thing which happen around them will arose their curiosity, and because of this, that's when they began picking up some bad habits... Like for example, smoking.

How so?

Because the parents did not give enough love, care and concern to their teenager(s) and as a result, these teenager(s) will tend to turn their attention to some other things. Then, there will always be the "bad people" around who will take this opportunity to teach some really bad things to the teenagers. As a result, it would become their bad habits and eventually, they will become a totally different person from the past.

I would say that not all the teenagers would be like this, but this would be the minority group of people.

Teachers too, you should give some care and concern to these kind of students, some of them are naughty and rebellious, not because they wanted to, but they were being forced to be so...

Trust me, no teenagers would want to have a bad memory on their teenage life. For the teenage life is the most beautiful stage in life...

Cheers!
